All about couch potatoes

Here’s some useful information about your new Couch Potato, including details of the production, packaging, delivery, returns and usage.

Production

The Couch Potatoes are produced by Brazier & Co, a soft toy specialist based in the South West of England. The product uses recycled material for its stuffing and is produced in facilities based in Asia which adhere to their environmental and ethical standards, described here. We ship the products vacuum packed to reduce the size of the shipping packages.

The design is registered in the UK with the Intellectual Property Office, registration number 6229009.

Compliance

The Couch Potatoes are compliant with applicable standards, as indicated on the sewn-in label. Although not marketed as a toy, the product conforms to EN71 for soft toys, as well as UKCA and CE standards.

Couch Potato is not recommended for children under the age of 3.

Packaging

I pack Couch Potatoes in organic cotton drawstring bags, certified to the Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) and supplied by the Paper Bag Company. They are ethically sourced, environmentally friendly, biodegradable and reusable! You can find out more about the GOTS standard here.

For postal deliveries, I ship the Couch Potatoes in mailing envelopes which use FSC(R) certified paper. They are 100% recyclable, 100% biodegradable and 100% sustainable. The inks used for printing are water based, and the product is entirely plastic-free. These envelopes are also supplied by the Paper Bag Company

Seed labels

The label on your Couch Potato is made of recycled cotton material, and has wildflower seeds embedded in it. The paper is made by the Little Green Paper Shop and is 100% plastic-free, and 100% biodegradable.

To grow: submerge in 5mm of water and keep in natural light. After a few days or weeks, the seeds will start sprouting. Transfer to a pot with compost. Alternatively, soak in water for 24-48 hours and transfer to compost before seed sprout. Water regularly - never let it dry, but also be careful not to overwater! Warm temperatures and sunshine are a huge help in getting the seeds started. Please bear in mind that, as with everything in nature, many factors will come into play. While we cannot guarantee success, your seeds should sprout if looked after properly.

The twine used on the label is natural, biodegradable Jute twine from Nutscene, made from 100% Tossa Jute - a rapidly renewable and sustainable plant fibre.

Delivery

Delivery in the UK is by Royal Mail or a courier service. At the time of writing (December 2022), postal strikes are affecting delivery, meaning that we may use an alternative service.

Returns and refunds

If you wish to return your Couch Potato, please ensure that it is unused and complete with the original packaging. We are unable to offer refunds for products returned in a non-saleable condition.

We will process refunds to the original payment method within five working days of receiving your return. Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase. Please contact help@copoco.co.uk to request a return.

Before you use your potato

We gently squash the potato for shipping so it takes up less room in containers and delivery vehicles. When you release your potato from its bag, please give it a good shake to fluff it up. This will help to shake out the creases, and also allows the stuffing to spread out properly. It shouldn’t take long and then it will be ready for action!

Using your potato

Please note that Couch Potato is fun and playful, but not designed to be used as a toy! You can certainly throw it around, sit on it, squash it and stuff things inside it, but a few rules of thumb:

  • don’t put anything delicate or breakable inside

  • don’t store liquids or food inside

  • don’t over-fill

  • don’t attempt to cook or eat it

  • don’t throw it at people

  • don’t try and climb inside

  • don’t subject it to rough treatment, drop from great heights or step on it

  • don’t wash it in your washing machine (hand wash only)

Keep it on your sofa, by your bedside or on your desk to look after the things that you need. A gentle lob across a room is a great way to ‘pass the remote’ if you need to. Let us know what you use your potato for!
